What temperature is the studio heated to for infrared yoga classes?

What are the benefits of infrared heat?

Infrared heat enhances flexibility, aids in detoxification, increases blood circulation and promotes accelerated muscle recovery. As the body absorbs infrared heat, water molecules within vibrate, allowing them to expel impurities and create a deep, detoxifying cleanse on the cellular level. Additionally, the gentle warmth of infrared soothes joint pain, alleviates muscle aches and induces relaxation, fostering a deeper sense of wellness and well-being.

What’s the studio temperature during aerial classes?

Aerial classes are practiced under air conditioning, between 74 and 76 degrees.

What time should I arrive to class?

It's usually a good idea to arrive at least 10 to 15 minutes before the start of class.This allows time to set up, settle in and perhaps do some light stretching or relaxation before the session begins. It also provides a buffer in case there are any unexpected delays, like traffic or difficulty parking. (We see you, Miami.)

Classes begin promptly at the time scheduled. Late arrivals are not admitted to prevent class disruption.

Are photos permitted during class?

Personal photography and/or video are allowed during the last 15 minutes of aerial classes. Members are permitted to photograph themselves to document personal progress however must remain mindful and respect the privacy of fellow members who do not wish to be on camera.

To encourage inward focus, photos are not permitted during mat-based yoga classes. We suggest members refrain from using phones or any electronic devices. Sounds, notifications or calls can disrupt personal focus and disturb the peaceful atmosphere of the studio. It's best to silence phones and secure them in a locker during practice to be fully immersed in the class experience.

What should I wear to infrared yoga classes?

Prepare to sweat so lightweight, breathable clothing such as moisture-wicking tops and bottoms made from materials like nylon or natural fibers work best. Opt for form-fitting attire that allows for easy movement and wicks away sweat. Avoid heavy fabrics and opt for minimal, comfortable clothing.

What should I wear to aerial classes?

Like infrared classes, choose form-fitting yet flexible clothing that allows for a full range of motion. Consider wearing leggings with a comfortable, breathable top. Avoid loose or baggy clothing that may get caught in the hammock. Additionally for more advanced classes, we recommend a tee, tank, onesie or any form-fitting garment that covers the legs and midriff. Silk burns are real so cover all skin that may come in contact with the hammock to minimize friction and potential burns.Remove jewelry and accessories to prevent any interference or injury during practice.

Can I wear jewelry to aerial classes?

We love a fully-accessorized workout look however, it’s important to remove jewelry from the hands and wrists prior to aerial practice.

Jewelry can get caught in the fabric, risking potential injury. Additionally, dangling or sharp pieces of jewelry can easily damage the fabric or pose a safety risk during movements. If a piece of jewelry cannot be removed, we offer medical tape to securely cover it. Jewelry is 100% OK to wear to infrared, mat-based yoga classes.

Is there an age limit for children to practice infrared yoga?

There isn't a strict age limit for children to practice infrared yoga, as it largely depends on the child's individual capabilities, maturity level and personal interest. However, it's generally recommended for children to be at least 8 to 10 years before starting a regular yoga practice. At this age, they tend to have better coordination and understanding of instructions, which are important for safely participating in yoga classes. Younger children can still engage in simple yoga poses and activities with parental supervision and under the guidance of a qualified instructor.

Is there an age limit for children to begin aerial practice?

There isn't a strict age limit for children to practice aerial hammock, as it largely depends on the child's individual capabilities, maturity level and personal interest. However, it's generally recommended for children to be at least 8 to 10 years before starting aerial practice. At this age, they tend to have better coordination and understanding of instructions, which are important for safely practicing aerial postures. Our qualified aerial instructors will gladly assess a child's readiness and provide appropriate guidance.

I’m a beginner in yoga. What class types do you recommend?

For first-time students, starting with foundational classes is ideal. Consider flow-type vinyasa classes to grasp of the basics. These classes are typically slower paced and focus on fundamental poses, proper alignment, as well as breathing techniques tailored for newcomers. Additionally, consider gentle or restorative classes. These types of classes often incorporate props like blocks and straps to support the body in relaxing poses, which can be especially beneficial for beginners who are still building flexibility and strength.

Lastly, you might consider a series of private classes with a qualified teacher for one-to-one, personalized instruction. As always, it's essential to listen to your body and choose classes that feel appropriate for your current level of experience and fitness.

I’ve never tried aerial. What class types do you recommend?

For beginners in aerial hammock or aerial yoga, it's encouraged to start with foundational or beginner-level classes. These classes focus on teaching fundamental techniques, basic poses and safety guidelines. Consider Aerial Basics or Aerial Vinyasa which both provide a gentle introduction to aerial hammock practice, focusing on building strength, improving flexibility and gaining confidence in the hammock.
